1. Install Akeeba
2. Use it to make a backup
3. Create a new database
4. Test the backup on localhost
5. Delete the Joomla folders/files from the live site
6. Use the backup to install the site to the new database

Or (if you can) point the Domain to a folder level with your live site
4. Create a folder level with your live site
5. Install the backup to the new folder and database
6. Point the Domain to the new folder

N B
When you install the backup to the Host server click to override the tmp/log paths (when you see that option)
Keep your original database intact.
